The Sumatran Tiger: A Struggle for Survival

The Sumatran tiger, the smallest of all tiger subspecies, is native to the Indonesian island of Sumatra. These elusive predators are critically endangered, with fewer than 400 individuals remaining in the wild due to deforestation and illegal hunting.

Wildlife reserves on Sumatra and beyond provide safe habitats for these tigers, allowing them to hunt and reproduce without human interference. Conservationists also work tirelessly to combat illegal trade and educate local communities about the importance of tiger conservation. Their survival depends on the continued efforts of dedicated reserves.
